Ordinary composts are not suitable for use in ponds, as they contain nutrients in a form that will encourage algae growth, and will also cause clouding of the pond water. Garden soil is not suitable for the same reason, and it also carries the risk of introducing harmful pesticides and herbicides into the water. TetraPond Aquatic Compost contains all of the nutrients needed by pond plants, in a format that will not encourage algae or cause clouding of the water.
The high loam content in TetraPond Aquatic Compost prevents clouding of the water, whilst its slow release fertilisers encourages plant growth, not algae growth.
TetraPond Aquatic Compost can be used with either ordinary pond baskets or TetraPond Aquaplanters. It should be topped off with a layer of pond gravel to prevent fish from disturbing it.
